We went to eat with several of my friends from college on March 14th. Afterwards Greg took me to a small church built in the 1940’s and proposed to me. As you can see from the picture it was absoluetly breathtaking. He decorated the church with candles and roses the night before with the help of my two good friends Sheri and Keari. The entire proposal was a total surprise.
As we walked into the church he grabbed my hand and walked me down the aisle to the front of the church where he had a dozen red roses and more candles waiting. About half way down the aisle I realized what was happening and I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest… in fact at one point I think it did!!!!!!
Once we were at the front of the church Greg reminded me of the first time we met and how he knew right away he wanted to ask me out. He talked about how much he loved my family (he said he hasn’t found one yet he didn’t love…..my first thought was wow we’ve got him snowed!!!!!). We talked about his family and I told him how wonderful they are!
He pulled out a sheet of paper that had three scriptures on it….the first was a scripture I had read at Kelley’s funeral a year ago out of Matthew 18. The second was the scripture about two being better than one and the third was the love chapter out of I Corthinthians.
(He said lots of other very sweet things but I can only remember about half of them!!!!!!)
After that, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!!!!
It was an incredible night that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Before all of our friends came in (they were all waiting outside the church) Greg said a prayer over us and about our relationship. He asked God to bless the road before us and asked that we bring glory and honor to Him through our relationship. I cannot think of a better way to start an engagement and a life together!!!
