Found the Dress

We had one day to do it and WE FOUND IT!!!! Our day started at 9:30 in Dallas on Saturday morning. We arrived at Mockingbird Bridal and were greeted by Maggie. We quickly became close friends and for the rest of the morning we were connected at the hip. After describing to Maggie what kind of dress I thought I would like she pointed me in the
right direction and said, “pull down any dress you want to try and hand it to me.” All four of us, including Beth, dove in and before we knew it we had a dressing room full of dresses.
It’s difficult to describe what it feels like to walk out of the dressing room for the first time and see yourself in a wedding dress! It was very sweet and the moment was even sweeter to have my mom, sister and niece sitting right there when I saw myself for the first time. The next couple of hours were so much fun putting on one dress after another and getting to model each and every one of them!!!!
I will go ahead and put in my plug for my new friend Maggie! She was exceptional! She has been doing this for 18 years and was able to answer EVERY question I asked her (and there were several). At one point I had a dress on with a veil and I was talking to myself wondering if I would wear my hair up or down to which she replied, “let’s try it both ways!” Yes, she can even fix your hair.
I loved the first two dresses I tried on but wanted to think about it before making a selection. I dragged my family all the way back to Fort Worth, tried on several dresses in Fort Worth and then I dragged them all the way back to Dallas. In case you are wondering we drove 209 miles in 10 hours. We basically made 2 huge circles around the entire metroplex.
After trying on dresses in Fort Worth I knew without a doubt that I wanted to buy the second dress I tried on at Mockingbird Bridal. When we showed up Maggie got the dress out for me to try on one more time. That was it……I knew right away this was the dress for me! We ordered the dress and even picked out bridesmaid dresses.
Thanks to everyone who called and text messaged me on Saturday! It’s nice to have friends that care about the little things in my life……like finding a wedding dress!
The 10 hour event ended at Greg’s house where he had steak, potatoes and salad waiting for us! The food was so good and it felt great to relax and enjoy the evening without being in a crowded restaurant. I think Greg has figured out that the way to my heart is with a good steak!!!!
It was a fast and fun day and we were all exhausted when we finally got home. By 9:30 the next morning Dana, Beth and my mom were all on their way back home. It is a huge blessing to have a great family. It is an even greater blessing when you enjoy spending time with your family. If mine had not been here this weekend I’m fairly certain that I would not have found my dress. Thanks for coming ya’ll!
